A Nice Saloon Trade Token

Here is a nice Stroud, Oklahoma Territory saloon trade token found recently by ITTHC member Wally Dick. It should clean up very nicely. But if you plan to sell a token don't clean it. Collectors would rather use their own methods of cleaning.

“R. N. Voss” had a saloon in Stroud, Oklahoma Territory from about 1900 until statehood in November of 1907. Oklahoma Territory had always been wet allowing liquor sales. With statehood the State of Oklahoma became a dry state with no sales of alcohol. And shortly after statehood Robert “Bob” N. Voss moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and continued in the saloon business.

Obverse: “R. N. VOSS STROUD, OKLA.” REVERSE: “GOOD FOR 5¢ IN TRADE”

Nice find Wally.
