Water Hunt at Hay Station Flat Rock Creek

Photos Thanks to Shaun Kucera, Bill Watkins, & Jean Dick

No rain this year, bright sunshine, high temperature 94°, and cooling water, the club outing to Flat Rock Recreation Area at Fort Gibson Lake on Sunday, August 16th was a good one.

The club supplied hamburgers, hot links, hot dogs, buns, condiments, & chips. Roger Eaton & Wally Dick handled the hot job of cooking. Good job guys, Thank You! Thanks again to John Freeman for picking up and hauling the food, supplies, extra scoops, and one old guy. And Thanks again to John & Jody Hamilton for bringing, and taking & storing the grill & tables.

There were 40 members standing in line to chow down on burgers, dogs, and food brought by club members. Thanks to all those bringing the OUTSTANDING side dishes and desserts. If you went away hungry at this outing, again it was your own fault.

After the big feed there were scattered as evenly as possible 194 tokens in a 40 yards X 70 yards designated area. There were 21 tokens for member donated prizes, and 150 tokens for Mercury Dimes, 15 tokens for Silver Quarters, & 8 tokens for Silver Halves. The tokens were painted 4 color Wheat Cents, numbered Jefferson Nickels, two types of painted numbered brass slugs, & painted/numbered/lettered Civil War Bullets.

When the start signal was given there were 27 water hunters frothing the water. After 1 hour+ of hunting 2 of the prize token bullets, 7 of the tokens for Mercury Dimes, and 2 tokens for Silver Quarters were not recovered. The muck and junk account for the unrecovered.

The winner of $39.00 in the 50-50 Raffle was two time this month winner Bill Watkins.

And as the Sun set slowly in the West ITTHC members headed home with a full belly and a smile on their face!

Again, one of the main reasons for this type of outing, besides the food of course, is to give non-water hunting members a chance to try their hand at it. Also, the fun and fellowship of being with people that enjoy the same hobby.

Again, if you missed this outing, you missed a great one. Don’t miss the next one!
