One of the best finds of the day was the City National Bank, South McAlester, I. T. name plate off of either a canvas or leather bank deposit bag found by Doug Fry. ¬ Included is an extract from ¬ ‚ÄúThe Commercial & Financial‚ÄĚ of 1903 showing the charter of the City National Bank of South McAlester, Indian Territory in 1902. ¬ The bank was chartered with a capital of $50,000.00 which was quite large for the day in Indian Territory. ¬ Both E. N. Allen and Frank Craig were very wealthy investors in both the coal industry and financial business in Indian Territory. ¬ The artist rendition of the City National Bank is from a postcard. ¬ And the $10.00 bank note that was the first to be issued by City National Bank after Oklahoma became a state November 16, 1907.
